Women who may be planning to run as candidates or be part of a campaign team for the 2024 Local Elections, but may not know where to start, can now avail of practical campaign toolkits to cover everything they need to put a strategy plan in place.

See Her Elected (SHE) – the grassroots organisation which has been supporting women across rural Ireland to become county councillors or to be part of their campaign teams since 2019 – is running two in-person training events in January and February 2024.

‘How to Run for Election: Your Campaign Toolkit, in a Daywill provide practical advice on everything women need to know when planning their local election strategy. The training will take place on Saturday 20 January and on Saturday 24 February at Longford Women’s Link centre from 11.15am to 3pm.

Participants at both events will also get a free copy of Ireland’s first and only election guidebook See Her Elected Guide to Running in the 2024 Local Elections’. Dr Michelle Maher, SHE’s Programme Manager, explained that the event is open to women from all over Ireland who plan to run as candidates in the local elections in June.

“If you want to learn how to become a county councillor then come along and meet our panel of experts to get you election ready. Learn how to put your election campaign team together, election canvassing, campaigning, communications strategies and the all-important confidence and resilience factor to give you the edge.

“We are also delighted to be able to offer free transport to and from Longford’s train/bus station if required. Refreshments and lunch will also be provided and it’s all completely free of charge.”
