The Irish Regions European Office (IREO) in collaboration with the Capital Cities and Regions Network (CCRN) and Dublin City Council hosted a workshop entitled ‘Navigating Smart and Sustainable Growth in Cities and Regions’ during the European Week of Cities and Regions.
The CoR’s Irish member, Cllr Emma Blain from Dun Laoghaoire-Rathdown County Council, participated as a panellist alongside Jorak Droba, President of the Bratislava Region, and Zdeněk Hřib, Deputy Mayor of Prague and also a CoR member.
The workshop explored how cities and regions continue to play a crucial role in tackling challenges in EU to foster sustainable development. It highlighted the importance of EU cohesion funds in supporting sustainable development, creating circular and resource-efficient economies and communities.
Best practices were also shared from the field of sustainable mobility, cross-border projects, and circular construction.
