EUROPEAN WEEK OF REGIONS AND CITIES 2026

The 24th edition of the European Week of Regions and Cities, which will take place in Brussels this year from 12 to 14 October, is inviting regional/local governments, EU fund managers and partners to showcase their own cohesion policy and regional development.

The flagship event in Brussels on Cohesion Policy is co-organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) and the European Committee of the Regions (CoR). It provides an opportunity for cities and regions to showcase their capacity to create growth and jobs, implement EU Cohesion Policy, and prove the importance of the local and regional level for good European governance.

Key Details for #EURegionsWeek 2026:

  • Dates: 12–14 October 2026, held in Brussels

  • Purpose: To showcase regional capacity for growth, jobs, and the implementation of EU cohesion policy.
  • The Call for Applications is open until 26 April, for partners to host sessions, seeking proposals highlighting EU projects, funding, and regional expertise.

Each year, EURegionsWeek attracts thousands of participants, including:

  • Politicians
  • Public officials at all levels (EU, national, regional and local)
  • Private sector representatives
  • Policymakers
  • Academics
  • Journalists
  • Civil society and citizens

The event serves as a communication and networking platform fostering co-operation, exchanging knowledge and addressing regional and urban challenges. Each edition features a unique motto that aligns with the EU’s political priorities. This year’s motto is ‘Strong Regions, Strong Europe’.

The programme will include sessions and workshops designed and implemented by selected partners. It also offers formal and informal networking opportunities, high-level discussions and interactive activities to ensure a memorable and impactful experience for participants and partners.

Additionally, this year will feature the use of AI tools. Recorded sessions will benefit from the Panoramic AI platform dedicated to the EURegionsWeek 2026. Panoramic AI is a new platform that enables users to revisit sessions and speeches during the event in Brussels.
